A chronicle, told as cases. Each project below names the brief the client arrived with, the key arbitration that shaped the work, and the way it was finally delivered. Clients are identified by their first location, never by surname; photographs appear when the client has agreed to their publication, otherwise the paragraph carries the record. On each of these properties I held a client-side mandate alone — my income drawn from the owner’s fees, at the rates published on this site.
Lyon — 2023
A French medical professional based in Lyon needed a permanent Paris residence as his practice shifted increasingly toward the capital. A single occupant, he asked for a sober, masculine interior, deliberately restrained. I was involved upstream of any property being identified, to frame the search and then the transformation. The acquisition took several months, in close coordination with an estate agent he had chosen. Once secured, the apartment underwent a full interior transformation: clean lines, dark tonalities, controlled lighting, restraint at every arbitration. My mandate covered program definition, budget framework, coordination with the interior architect and the trades through the design authority, weekly on-site verification, and the handover. The apartment was delivered empty and fully resolved, ready for occupation on the planned date.
New York — 2022
A Manhattan-based client asked for the full client-side representation of a pied-à-terre in the 7th arrondissement. The distance and the professional calendar of the client required a single local interlocutor capable of turning intentions into decisions without friction. My mandate covered program definition, budget framework, line-by-line reading of every quote remitted by the interior designer, and continuous on-site verification. Particular attention was given to interfaces between trades — the moment where most silent drifts occur in a Parisian renovation — and to the consistency between the design intent and what was actually built. The apartment was delivered empty but fully completed, ready for immediate furnishing. Throughout, the client was kept current with a weekly site journal; no decision of substance was taken without explicit written mandate.
Madrid — 2023
A Franco-Spanish couple, based in Madrid, wished to acquire a pied-à-terre in Paris. I joined the project well upstream of the identification of any property, to structure the search and secure the feasibility of what the couple had in mind. Working with an estate agent the client had retained, a property with significant transformation potential was identified. The acquisition strategy — integrating existing attic space to create a duplex — was built jointly between the estate agent, the interior architect and myself, each in our own lane. The clients travelled to Paris on three occasions during the project: before purchase, mid-construction, and once specifically to validate a subset of furniture selections. My mandate covered the full client-side work: program, budget framework, line-by-line verification of the quotes, scheduling oversight, weekly site reports. The project was delivered fully furnished, ready for immediate occupancy.
New York — 2021–2023
A private hôtel particulier in the 8th arrondissement, designed as a long-term family residence ahead of a permanent relocation to Paris. The project ran over eight months of programme development and one year of construction. The property was restructured across several levels: a service basement, a reception level with living areas and kitchen, two intermediate floors with four bedrooms, and a converted attic transformed into a master suite. The client alternated between Paris and New York throughout the mandate. A precise brief was established jointly between the client, the architect and myself, serving as a stable framework for arbitration over the long duration. My role covered program definition, budget structuring, continuous on-site verification, and interface management on behalf of the client with the design authority and the trades. The house was delivered fully resolved, meeting both the functional programme and the requirements of a permanent family residence.
Geneva — 2024
A Geneva-based business executive who travels to Paris regularly asked for the client-side representation of a Montmartre pied-à-terre. Beyond its primary use as a personal residence, the apartment needed to accommodate multiple scenarios: hosting friends, lending the property, adapting to varying lengths of stay. The existing single-bedroom layout could not hold that programme. Three bedrooms were created and the living area was opened up to take full advantage of exceptional views over Paris. The balance between density of use and spatial comfort required clear arbitrations: ceiling heights preserved, circulation kept generous, each bedroom fitted with discreet storage. My mandate covered the structuring of the programme, the line-by-line verification of the quotes, and continuous on-site verification throughout the works. The apartment was delivered ready for immediate use, with a user file adapted to the multiple scenarios of occupation the client had named at the outset.
Atlanta — 2024
A family pied-à-terre in Le Marais, for an Atlanta-based client. The apartment had belonged to the same family since the early twentieth century. After the Second World War, the client’s father had emigrated to the United States, where the client was born and raised. Decades later, he repurchased the apartment from cousins who had remained in France, so that the property would stay within the family despite the distance. The project therefore combined technical and emotional dimensions. It required a trusted local representative able to structure the programme and the budget framework, but also to handle the mandate with the discretion due to a property of symbolic value. My role covered programme definition and prioritisation, budget structuring, line-by-line verification of the quotes, and continuous on-site verification. Particular attention was paid to execution quality and to continuity between the family’s history, the design intent, and what was finally built.
